Your First Steps

While we are en route to you, there are a few things you may choose to do ahead of our arrival. If you can, safely disconnect your power, call your insurance company, begin documenting damage, and move valuables to a secure location.

  • Disconnect the power. If you determine that it is safe, then disconnect the power to your home. However, if you have standing water in your home and electrical damage of any kind, this is dangerous and poses a significant risk. Wait for professionals! Your power box may need to be professionally cleaned and dried before the power company can restore power.
  • Contact your insurance company. Most types of flood damage are covered under home and rental insurance policies. Ask your insurance agent specific questions about your deductible and any instructions regarding cleanup and restoration. Try to be patient. If there is widespread damage throughout your area, you may wait a while to speak with an agent.
  • Begin documenting damage. If you can safely take pictures or videos of your flood and storm damage, you should. It would also help to make a list of valuables and any independently insured items, like artwork, heirloom furniture, or jewelry that has been affected.
  • Secure valuables. If it’s safe, you can begin to remove upholstered items, furniture, artwork, and other valuables from your home. Put these items in a secure, dry place so they can start to air-dry. As soon as we begin the restoration process, we will handle professionally cleaning, sanitizing, and drying all your affected possessions. Keep in mind, it is unsafe to keep items exposed to standing water for more than 48 hours. If you have an item of particular importance that you are concerned about saving, please bring it to our attention.

It may be that your experience is too overwhelming to handle anything except that first phone call to us. Don’t worry! We can take care of almost everything once we arrive. We want you to be as involved as you are comfortable being in the plan we make together to get you back to pre-loss conditions.

What to Expect

After a flood or violent storm, our first step is to listen to you and your immediate priorities. After a thorough inspection of the damage, a professionally trained Veteran Owned Restoration technician can offer a free, no-obligation estimate. Together, we will formulate a plan.

  • Tarp and board windows. After we decide together on a restoration plan, Veteran Owned Restoration technicians will move in right away to tarp your roof and board up any broken windows to prevent any further damage.
  • Salvage and restore valuables. If appropriate, we will begin taking a detailed inventory, safely packing valuables that can be salvaged and restored, and transferring those items to a secure, climate-controlled warehouse. At the warehouse, we’ll begin cleaning, drying, deodorizing, and restoring your valuables to their pre-loss condition.

  • Clear communication. Once we have decided together on a thorough flood and storm damage restoration plan and timeline, you can count on us to keep you informed of each step we make toward achieving pre-loss condition. We encourage you to contact us anytime you have questions or concerns.
